Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

ລາຍລະອຽດ

*Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel* is a first-person shooter that serves as a narrative bridge between the original *Borderlands* and its sequel, delving into the ascent of Handsome Jack to power. Set on Pandora's moon, Elpis, and the Hyperion space station, the game explores Jack's transformation from a Hyperion programmer into the megalomaniacal villain known to fans. It retains the series' signature cel-shaded art style and humor, while introducing new mechanics like low-gravity combat and oxygen management with Oz kits. New elemental damage types, such as cryo and laser weapons, add tactical depth, and four new playable characters—Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha, and Claptrap—offer distinct playstyles. Cooperative multiplayer remains a core feature, fostering camaraderie and chaos. The narrative explores themes of power and corruption, challenging players to consider the moral ambiguity of the Borderlands universe. The side mission "Picking Up the Pieces" in *Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel* offers a fascinating glimpse into the desperate ambition of Handsome Jack. Following the main story mission "Eye to Eye," players are tasked with a peculiar objective: to reassemble the shattered eye of the Destroyer, a cosmic horror from the first *Borderlands*. Jack, furious about the loss of the Eye of Helios and seeking any advantage, believes this monstrous remnant can be repurposed. The quest begins in the Lunar Launching Station, where players must locate two "Eye Chunks." One is easily accessible, but the second requires utilizing the Oz kit's boosting capabilities for some vertical platforming, adding a small environmental challenge. Once these ghastly fragments are collected, the mission directs players to the Research and Development area of the Helios station. Here, in a biolab, Jack’s unconventional plan unfolds. Players must use a scientific apparatus to stitch the eye pieces back together, creating a "Laser Sutured Eye." This absurd act of surgery on a dismembered cosmic entity perfectly embodies the series' dark humor. The final step involves testing the reconstructed eye. Players place it on a stand and, with a conveniently provided laser weapon, are instructed to shoot it. The result is predictably explosive, as the eye detonates, proving Jack’s hypothesis spectacularly wrong. Jack’s final dialogue, alluding to Humpty Dumpty, highlights the futility of his experiment. For their efforts, players receive experience, money, and Moonstones. More importantly, this mission showcases Jack's desperation, his willingness to grasp at any idea, and his penchant for grandiose, albeit flawed, scientific endeavors, adding a memorable layer to his descent into villainy.
