Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
ລາຍລະອຽດ
Berdin is a first-person shooter video game that connects the stories of the first Borderlands and its sequel. Developed by 2K Australia with Gearbox Software, it came out in October 2014. The game is set on Pandora's moon, Elpis, and on the Hyperion space station orbiting it. It tells the story of how Handsome Jack became the big bad guy we all know and love to hate. It shows his change from a regular Hyperion employee to the supervillain he is in Borderlands 2, making him a more complex character and adding depth to the whole Borderlands story.
Berdin keeps the series' signature art style and funny jokes, but it also adds new gameplay stuff. The low-gravity moon environment changes how you fight. You can jump higher and farther, making battles more vertical. Oxygen tanks, or "Oz kits," are needed to breathe in space and add a strategic layer, as you have to watch your oxygen levels. The game also introduces new elemental damage types like cryo, which can freeze enemies for satisfying shatter attacks, and laser weapons, adding to the already wide variety of cool guns.
There are four new characters to play as, each with their own skills: Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, and Claptrap the Fragtrap. These characters offer different ways to play. Athena uses a shield for attack and defense, Wilhelm can send out drones, Nisha is great with guns and critical hits, and Claptrap has wild abilities that can be helpful or harmful. Playing with up to three friends is still a big part of the game, making it more fun to take on the tough lunar environment and its enemies together.
The story explores themes of power, corruption, and characters who aren't purely good or evil. By playing as characters who become villains, you get to think about the gray areas in the Borderlands universe. The game's humor, full of jokes and satire, lightens the mood while also making fun of corporate greed and strong leaders, showing how these real-world issues can be exaggerated in a dystopian world.
While Berdin was praised for its fun gameplay and story, some people felt it didn't offer enough new ideas compared to the games before it. Some thought it was more like an expansion than a whole new game, but many still enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new characters in the Borderlands world.
"Eradicate!" is a cool side mission in *Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel*. It takes place on the Helios space station and mixes tricky platforming with a choice that affects your loot and a funny nod to a sci-fi classic. The mission starts with Tassiter, a Hyperion big shot, telling you to build a robot to fight off something. The mission involves a lot of jumping around on the outside of the station in low gravity, which can be pretty tough. You need to grab parts like a laser drill, a computer brain, and sensors. The robot you build looks a lot like a Dalek from *Doctor Who*, complete with the famous "Exterminate!" catchphrase. After you build it, Tassiter tells you to take it to fight an infected soldier. Once that's done, you have to decide whether to destroy the robot or keep it. Destroying it gives you a good Oz kit called "Systems Purge," which can create a damaging shockwave. Keeping it means you get a less impressive gun called the "Globber," though the robot itself can become a boss you can fight later for a different legendary Oz kit. "Eradicate!" is a memorable mission because of its challenging platforming, funny Easter egg, and the important choice it gives you.
