Mirmulnir's taunts in the Dragon Language add depth to the encounter. The most significant part of "Dragon Rising" is Mirmulnir's death. His body disintegrates, and streams of energy flow into the player, signifying the absorption of a Dragon Soul. This awakens the "Unrelenting Force" shout. A guard, witnessing this, calls the player "Dragonborn," providing the in-game context for their powers. After the battle, the Greybeards summon the Dragonborn to High Hrothgar. Upon returning to Jarl Balgruuf, the player is rewarded with the title of Thane of Whiterun, their housecarl Lydia, the Axe of Whiterun, and the ability to buy Breezehome. "Dragon Rising" masterfully combines gameplay tutorials with major plot developments, establishing the player as the Dovahkiin, the only one capable of defeating dragons and saving Tamriel.
