Sadness Vale (Short 2), Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where a mysterious "Paintress" erases people of a certain age annually. Players lead Expedition 33 to stop her before "33" is painted. Sadness Vale, a somber sub-area in Visages, embodies its name with perpetual rain and numerous graves. Accessed via a mask's mouth, it serves as the final resting place of the ill-fated Expedition 39, whose journal and improvised graveyard offer a glimpse into their demise. Chapelier enemies here uniquely inflict "Exhaust" upon defeat, preventing AP gain. An optional boss, the Chromatic Ramasseur, a formidable variant, requires precise parrying to defeat. The area’s objective is to confront and defeat the Sorrowful Chapelier, an enhanced boss whose Mask of Sadness inflicts Exhaust, concluding the trial of sadness and returning the player to Visages.
