World of Goo 2

Description

World of Goo 2 is a physics-based puzzle game that continues the legacy of its acclaimed predecessor. Players are tasked with building structures using various types of "Goo Balls" to guide a minimum number of them to an exit pipe. The gameplay relies on connecting these Goo Balls, each possessing unique properties, to create structures that interact with the game's physics. The sequel introduces new Goo types and mechanics, including liquid physics, expanding on the original's core loop of dragging and connecting Goo to solve inventive puzzles across a new story and over 60 levels. The level "Jugglers" serves as an early introduction to several key Goo Balls and mechanics within World of Goo 2. Set within a distinct ice cave, this fourth level of the first chapter requires players to utilize the lifting capabilities of Balloons to collect Product Goo launched by automated dispensers. Albino Goo makes its debut here. These white Goo Balls are characterized by having four connection points, two more than standard Goo. While they simply connect to others, their legs maintain a relatively fixed length after attachment, allowing for the construction of both rigid and looser structures depending on placement. Their four legs make them effective for vertical builds but also contribute to heavier structures. A significant new property for Albino Goo in World of Goo 2 is their immunity to heat, making them invaluable in lava environments. The Sign Painter in the level highlights their appearance, suggesting their potential for being activated by interaction. In later levels, Albino Goo can become static, acting like immovable Product Goo but retaining their lava resistance, a change reportedly implemented to prevent an exploit. Balloons, familiar from the original World of Goo, also appear for the first time in Jugglers. These floating objects attach to structures via a single point and provide lift. They are crucial for stabilizing unstable structures or elevating parts of a build, though nothing can attach directly to them, and they cannot be collected by the exit pipe. Finally, Product Goo is introduced. These Goo Balls have no special abilities or connection points and exist solely to be collected by the exit pipe, often serving as a safeguard to ensure the player can meet the level's collection requirement. While they generally serve as passive collectibles, their weight can sometimes be utilized strategically. In World of Goo 2, Product Goo has a more rigid appearance, and a white variant also exists. In essence, "Jugglers" challenges players to learn how to combine the structural properties of Albino Goo, the lifting force of Balloons, and the goal of collecting Product Goo, all within a novel icy environment, providing a foundational understanding of the interplay between different Goo types in the game's physics-driven puzzles.
