Oddmar is a visually stunning action-adventure platformer inspired by Norse mythology. Players control Oddmar, a Viking outcast struggling to find his place and prove his worthiness for Valhalla. Shunned by his village for his disinterest in traditional Viking activities, Oddmar is given a chance at redemption through a magical fairy and a quest to save his mysteriously vanished clan. The game features classic 2D platforming across beautifully designed levels, incorporating running, jumping, and combat with unlockable abilities and weapons. Chapter 1, set in Midgard, introduces players to Oddmar’s world and the game’s mechanics. We meet Oddmar, a Viking who feels like an outsider, particularly in a village focused on aggressive expansion. His chieftain threatens him with exile if he doesn't burn down the forest. Heartbroken, Oddmar has a vision of his friend Vaskr in Valhalla and is visited by a fairy who grants him new jumping abilities via a magical mushroom. This pivotal moment sets him on his path. Midgard functions as the tutorial area. The initial levels gradually introduce Oddmar's movement, jumping, and later, combat and defensive maneuvers like using a shield. Players learn to navigate platforming challenges, utilize environmental elements, and collect items. The chapter progresses through diverse environments, including magical forests and mines, culminating in a boss fight against a Troll. Interspersed with gameplay are motion comics that advance the narrative of Oddmar's quest to find his clan and understand his destiny, setting the stage for the rest of the adventure.
