Borderlands 4
Description
Borderlands 4, released on September 12, 2025, continues the celebrated looter-shooter legacy with a fresh adventure on the newly introduced planet of Kairos. Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, the game expands on the series' signature blend of frenetic gunplay, an overwhelming amount of loot, and hilariously dark humor. Set six years after Borderlands 3, players are thrust into a seamless, open-world experience across Kairos' four distinct regions, free from the loading screens of past titles. Enhanced traversal mechanics, a dynamic day-night cycle, and unpredictable weather events make exploration more engaging than ever. The game offers four new Vault Hunters, each with unique skill trees and abilities, ready to battle the tyrannical Timekeeper and his synthetic forces.
Within this expansive new universe, the side mission "All Charged Up" offers a compelling taste of Borderlands 4's signature quest design. Available after completing "Null and Void," players encounter Rhodes of the Outbounders, a faction desperate to escape Kairos. Their recently acquired warp drive is inoperable, presenting the player with the task of revitalizing this critical piece of technology. The mission involves a multi-stage process, beginning with securing an implosion drive and escorting it through hostile territories. Players will push the drive onto a loader, then defend an Order hydroplant to open a loading bay, and guide the device through the plant, overcoming enemy resistance at every turn.
Key objectives include navigating the hydroplant's intricate systems, unlocking an elevator, and reaching the reservoir. The core of the mission lies in locating and installing three essential reactor components, bringing the system online. This culminates in a thrilling defense sequence where players must hold off waves of attackers to protect the implosion drive. The mission's climax features a confrontation with a formidable boss, Sludgemaw, before the drive can be fully utilized. Upon its successful completion, players are handsomely rewarded with a new shield, experience points, in-game currency, and a unique "Out of Bounds" ECHO-4 paintjob. "All Charged Up" perfectly encapsulates the Borderlands experience, merging exploration, intense combat, and meaningful progression into a memorable self-contained narrative that enriches the vibrant world of Kairos.
