Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in a Belle Époque-inspired world, where players lead a desperate mission to stop the Paintress, a being erasing people based on a decreasing number. Stone Wave Cliffs is an early and expansive coastal region, marked by dramatic rock formations, flooded ruins, and hidden caverns. Upon entering, players navigate lamp-lit tunnels and encounter new enemies like Hexga. Exploration reveals journals from past expeditions and challenges like paint cages, which unlock powerful weapons. The area introduces flying Reaper Cultists and Greatsword Cultists, each with unique abilities, providing Pictos upon defeat. The Paintress Shrine holds Rochers and valuable Tint Shards, while the Old Farm offers more paint cages and the merchant Jerijeri. Tide Caverns feature side quests and an optional Gold Chevalier boss. Finally, the Flooded Buildings and Basalt Waves lead to the two-phase Lampmaster boss battle, a critical victory concluding Act 1 and rewarding the "At Death's Door" Pictos.
