Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG inspired by Belle Époque France, plunges players into a world threatened by the Paintress, who annually erases people of a specific age. Players lead Expedition 33, a desperate quest to end her cycle before the dreaded "33" is painted. Spring Meadows is the first major region in the game, a sprawling fantasy land of meadows and forests. Following a disastrous landing, protagonist Gustave awakens alone, his despair growing upon finding deceased expedition members. Rescued by Lune, they face their first enemies, Portiers, and begin their journey through the Meadows Corridor, discovering vital expedition flags and new enemy types like Lanceliers and Volesters. The Grand Meadow offers optional challenges like a Mime boss and opportunities to gather crucial resources. The duo also encounters Jar, a non-hostile Nevron, hinting at deeper lore. The journey culminates at the Indigo Tree, with a challenging boss battle against the Évêque, setting the stage for Gustave and Lune's continued quest to find Maelle and confront the Paintress's grim legacy.
