Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where players lead a desperate quest to stop the Paintress from erasing humanity. This involves intense battles combining traditional mechanics with real-time dodges and parries. In Act 2, players arrive at Monoco's Station, encountering the eccentric Gestral, Monoco. His "boss fight" is an unconventional duel, a playful test of skill where Monoco transforms, mimicking past enemies. This fight, a tutorial in disguise, introduces his "Blue Mage" archetype. Immediately after, a true boss, the Stalact, attacks. This battle teaches "Gradient Attacks" and reinforces elemental weaknesses. With the Stalact defeated, Monoco joins, his unique "Bestial Wheel" mechanic and ability to learn enemy skills making him a versatile, if complex, party member, crucial for expanding the expedition's strategic options.
