Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where players lead Expedition 33 to stop the Paintress from erasing humanity. Blending traditional turn-based combat with real-time dodges and parries, the game features six unique characters and deep customization. The Sorrowful Chapelier boss in the Visages region's Sadness Vale is a heightened Chapelier, flanked by allies, vulnerable to Dark and Fire, and resistant to Ice. This flying foe launches orbiting masks after any action; players must parry these incoming attacks to unleash devastating counterattacks, often winning in one or two hits. The overarching Mask of Sadness randomly inflicts Exhaust, hindering AP gain, but the crucial parry mechanic remains unaffected, making the fight less about traditional skills and more about precise timing.
