Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG where players embark on a desperate mission to stop the Paintress, a being who erases people of a specific age each year. The gameplay blends classic turn-based combat with real-time dodging, parrying, and free-aiming. Bertrand Big Hands, a Gestral arena fighter, serves as a boss encounter. Initially faced in Gestral Village as a mandatory main quest battle, this version is relatively easy. He employs single-strike attacks, easily parried for a quick win. However, a more challenging iteration appears in the optional Hidden Gestral Arena. Here, Bertrand's attacks are more deceptive. His spinning punch requires a dodge or parry when his arms form a "T" shape during his lunge. His leg sweep is telegraphed by him charging and tilting his head. While more durable, he remains vulnerable to counters. Defeating him in this hidden arena rewards the "Accelerating Last Stand" Pictos, a valuable item for solo combat.
