Unlike more public arenas, the Hidden Gestral Arena is specifically designed to test a single Expeditioner's combat prowess, allowing players to pick one of their characters to face four distinct and formidable Gestral fighters. Success in these trials yields valuable items called Pictos, which grant powerful, unique abilities. The arena’s opponents are Bertrand Big Hands, Dominique Giant Feet, Matthieu the Colossus, and the highly regarded Julien Tiny Head. Each victory here offers a specific Picto: defeating Bertrand Big Hands grants "Accelerating Last Stand," boosting speed. Dominique Giant Feet yields "Protecting Last Stand," which enhances health and defense, providing the Shell status when fighting alone. Matthieu the Colossus provides "Last Stand Critical," guaranteeing critical hits. Finally, overcoming the robust Julien Tiny Head, the most challenging of the four, earns the "Solo Fighter" Picto, increasing solo damage by 50%. Conquering all four of these warriors unlocks the "Empowering Last Stand" Picto, a powerful boon for any lone combatant. The arena's challenges escalate, with Matthieu being the least difficult and Julien the most demanding, requiring players to master dodging and parrying to overcome their unique attack patterns, making it a wise stop before venturing into tougher story segments.
