Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in Belle Époque France, where a mysterious entity, the Paintress, erases people by age. Expedition 33 races against time to destroy her before she paints "33," eradicating humanity. The Ancient Sanctuary, a key early region in the game’s first act, serves as Expedition 33's gateway to Gestral Village. Characterized by striking red and white flora, this area introduces new enemies like the elusive Pétank and culminates in a boss fight against the formidable Ultimate Sakapatate. Players navigate a complex maze with hidden paths, encountering various Sakapatate variants and collecting crucial upgrade materials and Pictos. The sanctuary also holds a unique Paint Cage, requiring players to shoot three hidden locks to access its rewards.
