Sadness Vale (Short 1), Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG where players lead Expedition 33 to destroy the Paintress, a being that annually erases people. Sadness Vale, a sub-area within Visages, embodies its name with perpetual rain and graves, serving as the final resting place for the failed Expedition 39. Accessed by entering a large mask from the Plazza checkpoint, this melancholic zone challenges players to confront grief. Here, players encounter unique Chapeliers that inflict "Exhaust" upon defeat, and an optional boss, the Chromatic Ramasseur, requiring parries to stun. The area's main objective involves a giant mask posing a riddle, leading to a boss battle against the Sorrowful Chapelier. Defeating this boss, by parrying its launched masks, allows players to overcome the trial of sadness and return to Visages' hub.
