Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a stylish, turn-based RPG set in a Belle Époque-inspired world facing annihilation. Each year, the Paintress reduces the population by painting a number on a monolith, and the latest expedition must stop her before she reaches "33". The epilogue introduces Alicia, the true identity of the protagonist Maelle. She is a member of a family of magic-users who created the painted world. After a devastating Gommage, Alicia awakens, regaining her memories and painter abilities. She resurrects her fallen companions and confronts her father, who seeks to destroy their painted world to save them from its corrupting influence. This leads to a poignant conflict with Verso, a painted version of her brother, forcing a choice that determines the fate of their world and their family's healing from grief.
