WORLD 1-6 - Shy-Guys On Stilts (Scene 3) | Yoshi's Island
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Description
*Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island*, released in 1995, charmed players with its unique crayon-drawn aesthetic and innovative gameplay. Instead of Mario, players control Yoshi, tasked with rescuing Baby Luigi from Kamek. Yoshi’s abilities include a flutter jump for extra air time and an extendable tongue to eat enemies, which can then be turned into eggs for projectile attacks. A distinctive health system sees Baby Mario float away in a bubble when Yoshi is hit, requiring players to quickly retrieve him before he's captured.
World 1-6, "Shy-Guys On Stilts," truly elevates the challenge after the introductory levels. This stage introduces the titular Shy-Guys, who precariously balance on stilts. Yoshi must first stomp on their stilts to bring them down to ground level before he can swallow them. The level artfully blends open grassy areas with more claustrophobic underground caves, demanding careful platforming and enemy management. Players encounter moving platforms and must utilize their eggs strategically to reach hidden secrets like red coins and flowers, all within the game's beloved, hand-drawn visual style.
