This Town Ain't Big Enough, Mechromancer Playthrough | Borderlands 2 | Walkthrough, Gameplay

Borderlands 2

Description

Borderlands 2 is a first-person shooter with robust role-playing elements, known for its distinctive cel-shaded art style, copious amounts of loot, and irreverent humor. Set on the dangerous planet Pandora, players take on the role of Vault Hunters aiming to stop the tyrannical Handsome Jack. A key feature is the procedurally generated weaponry, creating a vast and ever-changing arsenal, alongside cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. The narrative is driven by witty dialogue and memorable characters, with extensive side quests and DLC adding significant depth. "This Town Ain't Big Enough" is an early optional mission given by Sir Hammerlock in Liar's Berg. The objective is simple: eliminate the remaining Bullymong population from the graveyard and a frozen pond. Playing as Gaige, the Mechromancer, this mission serves as an early primer for her unique gameplay loop. Although a low-level quest offering modest rewards, its completion unlocks subsequent side missions. For a Mechromancer playthrough, this mission provides an initial opportunity to experiment with Deathtrap, Gaige’s deployable robot companion. Deathtrap is invaluable here, especially against the early-game Bullymongs found at the pond and the slightly tougher variants in the graveyard. Deploying Deathtrap draws enemy attention and deals damage, allowing Gaige to engage with her weapons from a more favorable position or utilize skills from the "Best Friends Forever" tree if invested early. Alternatively, players leaning into the "Ordered Chaos" tree can use this mission to start accumulating Anarchy stacks by getting kills or emptying weapon magazines, though the full effect of these stacks won't be felt significantly at this low level. The "Close Enough" skill can be particularly useful for Gaige here, especially later in the game when accuracy suffers from high Anarchy stacks, allowing missed shots to ricochet and potentially hit targets. The strategy involves clearing the pond first, which typically contains smaller Bullymongs, followed by the graveyard, where larger and projectile-throwing Bullymongs are encountered. Deathtrap can quickly dispatch the weaker enemies at the pond, and his presence provides excellent support in the graveyard, particularly against the Slingers. Upon successfully eliminating all Bullymongs in both locations, returning to Sir Hammerlock completes the mission and unlocks "Bad Hair Day" and "Shielded Favors." While a minor undertaking, "This Town Ain't Big Enough" provides a taste of Borderlands 2's optional content and allows Mechromancer players to begin understanding and utilizing Gaige's core mechanics in a relatively low-pressure environment.
