Stray is an adventure game where you play as a stray cat in a decaying cybercity inhabited by robots. The narrative begins with the cat falling into a walled city and becoming separated from its family. This city is a post-apocalyptic environment influenced by Kowloon Walled City, filled with sentient robots, dangerous Zurks, and patrolling Sentinels. Gameplay involves exploration, platforming, and puzzles from a third-person perspective, utilizing the cat's abilities. The cat is joined by B-12, a small drone who translates, stores items, and helps with puzzles, while also uncovering its own lost memories. Antvillage is a distinctive location within the game, appearing as the ninth chapter. It's a peaceful, vertically structured settlement built around a large pipe, inhabited by Companion robots. The primary purpose of visiting Antvillage is to find Zbaltazar, a robot from the Outsiders group seeking to reach the surface. Upon arrival, encountering a Sarcophagus similar to the one where B-12 was activated triggers a crucial memory for the drone, revealing it was once a human scientist. This revelation temporarily affects B-12's ability to translate, allowing the player to explore the village. During this time, players can find two of B-12's memories and complete a side quest for a gardener named Malo, collecting colored plants to earn a badge. There are also opportunities for achievements, such as disrupting a mahjong game. After B-12 recovers, the cat ascends to meet Zbaltazar, who has uploaded his consciousness and cannot continue his journey physically. However, he provides information leading the cat to Clementine in Midtown, the next chapter.
