This essential plant can be placed in the pool, acting as a platform for most other plants. Strategic placement of Lily Pads is crucial, as zombies will attempt to consume them. Effective play in Level 3-1 often begins with establishing a strong sun economy by planting Sunflowers on the grass. Initial zombie waves can be dealt with using Potato Mines to conserve sun for more permanent defenses. It's advisable to hold off on planting Lily Pads until the Ducky Tube Zombies appear. A common tactic involves setting up Peashooters on both the grass and, via Lily Pads, in the water, with Wall-nuts placed further back as a defensive line. Importantly, the pool lanes lack lawnmowers, making these defenses even more critical. Successfully navigating this level rewards players with the Squash, a powerful single-use plant that crushes nearby zombies, preparing them for the escalating challenges ahead.
